It’s called the effect of third-party observers. When we feel that we are being watched, we tend to act differently. Crime goes down with people who think there are witnesses around. For those seeking constant attention and broadcasting themselves on the internet, they will tend to have a different focus that is not criminal.

Parents may worry about their teens on camera, but in many ways there are positive effects to broadcasting yourself, even when you don’t know what you are doing.
